The Zenit E is a 35mm single-lens reflex (SLR) camera manufactured by KMZ (Krasnogorsky Mekhanichesky Zavod) in the Soviet Union, first introduced in 1965. It uses standard 35mm film and features a M42 screw mount for interchangeable lenses. The camera is fully mechanical, with a shutter speed range from 1/30 to 1/500 second plus Bulb mode. Notably, the Zenit E includes a built-in, uncoupled selenium light meter, which does not require batteries. The viewfinder is a simple optical pentaprism type, and the camera lacks automatic exposure or focusing aids. Its robust, all-metal construction contributed to its popularity and longevity, with millions produced until 1986.
