The Zenit 122 is a Soviet-era 35mm SLR camera produced from 1990 to 2005 and features an M42 screw mount for interchangeable lenses. Constructed with a plastic body but retaining a solid, weighty feel, it offers fully manual operation with shutter speeds from Bulb to 1/500s and a mechanical self-timer. The camera includes a basic, battery-powered match LED light meter visible in the viewfinder, along with a split-image focusing screen for precise manual focus. The Zenit 122 is compatible with a wide range of M42 lenses and is often paired with the Helios 44M-7 58mm f/2 lens, known for its sharpness and character. While the build is utilitarian and the mirror slap is pronounced, it delivers reliable mechanical performance. The 122K variant uses a Pentax K mount instead, but otherwise shares the same features.
