The Minolta Dynax 5, also known as Maxxum 5 in the Americas, α-Sweet II in Japan, and α-5 in China, is a 35mm autofocus SLR camera introduced around 2002. It features an electronically controlled vertical-travel focal-plane shutter with speeds from 30 seconds to 1/4000 second, plus bulb mode, and a flash sync of 1/125 second. The exposure system uses a 14-segment honeycomb silicon photo diode for TTL metering, offering a range of 1 to 20 EV, and includes PASM modes (Program, Aperture priority, Shutter priority, Manual), along with scene modes. It has a built-in auto pop-up flash with a guide number of 12. The TTL autofocus system has a range of -1 to 18 EV, with single or continuous modes and an AF illuminator. The camera supports DX-coded film from 25 to 5000 ISO, with manual settings from 6 to 6400 ISO. It features motorized film transport with single or continuous advance up to 3 frames per second, automatic and mid-roll manual rewinding, and an eye-start feature that automatically sets exposure and focus when the camera is brought to the eye. The Dynax 5 is powered by two CR2 batteries.
