The Yashica-Mat is a 6x6 twin-lens reflex (TLR) camera released by Yashica in 1957. It was the first Yashica TLR to feature crank advance, distinguishing it from earlier models that used knob advance. The camera was branded "Yashica Mat" to indicate its automatic film advance, in contrast to simpler cameras that relied on a red window. Early models were equipped with a 75mm f/3.5 Lumaxar taking lens and a 75mm f/3.2 Lumaxar viewing lens, which were later succeeded by 80mm lenses with the same specifications. The Lumaxar lens, a four-element Tessar-type design, was subsequently renamed Yashinon. The Yashica-Mat utilized either a Copal MX or Copal MXV shutter, offering speeds from 1 second to 1/500 second. Shutter speeds and aperture settings are adjusted via wheels on the front plate, with the cable release employing a "Leica nipple" style.
