The Olympus OM-1n is a fully mechanical 35mm SLR camera produced between 1979 and 1987, and is the final revision of the original OM-1 series. Designed by Yoshihisa Maitani, it features a compact, lightweight body with through-the-lens (TTL) metering and Olympus’s proprietary OM lens mount. Shutter speeds range from Bulb to 1/1000s, with settings located on the lens barrel rather than the top plate, and the camera includes a large, bright viewfinder with a needle-based light meter powered by a single 1.35V battery. The OM-1n added compatibility with a motor drive, improved flash functionality, and included a mirror lock-up feature for long exposures. As a system camera, it supports a wide range of lenses and accessories, including a removable hot shoe and interchangeable focusing screens. While batteries are only needed for metering, the camera remains fully operational without them, making it popular among photographers who prefer a fully manual shooting experience.
