The Voigtländer Bessa R is a 35mm rangefinder camera that was introduced in 2000, manufactured in Japan by Cosina as a revival of the Voigtländer brand name. It features a Leica screw mount and a parallax-corrected bright-frame finder with manually selectable frame lines for 75mm, 50mm, and paired 35mm & 90mm lens focal lengths. The camera has a vertically-traveling metal focal plane shutter with speeds ranging from 1 to 1/2000s and bulb (B), with flash sync at 1/125s via hot-shoe or PC terminal. It includes TTL exposure metering and manual exposure. The body's top housing, baseplate, and film door are made of polycarbonate plastics. The Bessa R was available in black or silver, and later in navy blue or olive.
