  • 5 photos

The Praktica MTL 3 is an East German SLR camera manufactured by Pentacon between 1978 and 1984. It utilizes the 42mm screw mount and was produced in large quantities. The camera is noted for its solid construction, combining both basic and advanced features. It is equipped with a vertical travel metal curtain shutter, offering speeds from 1 to 1/1000 second, plus a Bulb setting and a dedicated electronic flash sync speed around 1/125 second. The MTL 3 features a through-the-lens metering system integrated into the mirror, which is the only battery-dependent component, using a 1.35v PX 625 mercury cell. A needle in the viewfinder indicates exposure. The standard lens supplied with the camera was typically a multicoated Pentacon 50mm f/1.8 with a 49mm filter thread, featuring an auto/manual switch for aperture control.
