PENTAX SP1000

  • 13 photos

The Pentax SP1000 is an entry-level camera that is virtually identical to the original Spotmatic SP, but without a self-timer. It was introduced in 1974 and was not sold in Japan; many units were assembled in Hong Kong. It uses the M42 x1mm lens mount, allowing it to use a wide range of lenses from various manufacturers. The SP1000 was offered with a Super-Takumar or SMC 55mm f/2 lens. Like the SP, it came in black and chrome Asahi, and black and chrome Honeywell variants. The SP1000, along with the SP500, maintained a line of cameras identical to the original Spotmatic as entry-level models.
