The Leica M4-2 is a 35mm rangefinder system camera produced by Leica from 1977 to 1983. It is a reintroduction of the M4, manufactured in Canada, with some detail differences and simplified, largely mechanized production. The M4-2 features a Leica M lens mount, a focal plane shutter with speeds from 1/1000 to 1 second, and a reverse Galilean viewfinder with 0.72x magnification. It has a coupled rangefinder for manual focusing and provides manual exposure control. For the first time, provision was made for a motor winder. The camera is all mechanical and does not have a built-in exposure meter. It includes a fixed hotshoe for flash synchronization.
