The Bronica S2A, released in 1969, is a medium format SLR and the successor to the S2. It shares nearly identical specifications and outer appearance with the S2. The primary difference is an improved film advance gear mechanism, which is known to reduce jams. Additionally, the film advance and cocking dial on the S2A is smaller than that of its predecessor. Early S2A models can be identified by "S2A" appearing after the serial number, while later models produced after 1973 (after serial number 150037) lack this designation and feature wingless camera strap lugs.
