The Tachihara 4x5 is a traditional field camera produced by Tachihara Camera Works, a Japanese manufacturer based in Kita-ku, Tokyo, until at least 2013. These cameras are known for their moderate price and high quality, offering extensive lens board and image plane movements. They were available in various sizes, including 4x5, and came in cherry wood finishes (natural or 'rose-mahogany' varnished) or black-painted, with brass fittings in gold-color or chrome. Models included double- and triple-extension options, as well as a 'super-wide' version with short extension and bellows. The most common model, the Fiel Stand 45, sometimes featured a rear-focus mechanism, allowing the rear standard to move forward for close-up focusing or to accommodate wide-angle lenses without the bed appearing in the view. Tachihara cameras were also sold by Zone VI.
