NIKON NIKKORMAT FTN

The Nikkormat FTN is a 35mm SLR camera introduced in 1967 by Nippon Kōgaku, and was a successful iteration of the Nikkormat FT series. It is built on the same chassis as the FT but features center-weighted metering instead of whole-frame average metering, a shutter-speed display in the viewfinder, and a simplified lens mounting process. The FTN was produced until 1976 and represents the most common of the FT series Nikkormats. It improved upon its predecessor's user experience by replacing the fully-manual lens indexing with a simpler film speed setting and a "double twist" method for attaching the lens, which automatically indexes the aperture. The Nikkormat series was Nikon's budget range, taking F-mount lenses, and the FTN was considered an update rather than a new model.
