CANON FX

The Canon FX is a 35mm single-lens reflex (SLR) camera introduced by Canon Inc. in April 1964. It was the first Canon camera to use the FL lens mount, following the earlier R mount system. The FX features a built-in CdS lightmeter located on the camera body (not through-the-lens) with selectable sensitivity ranges for different lighting conditions and supports film speeds from ISO 10 to 800. Its focal plane shutter offers speeds from 1 second to 1/1000 second in full-stop increments, and X-sync flash functionality is provided via a PC socket at 1/55 second. The viewfinder uses a glass pentaprism, providing approximately 90% vertical and 93% horizontal frame coverage at 0.9× magnification with a standard 50mm lens. Available historically in both silver and extremely rare all-black finishes, the FX remains a notable milestone in Canon’s transition toward modern SLR systems.
