The Canon EX Auto is a 35mm SLR camera produced by Canon in 1972. It features a unique design where the rear lens group is fixed to the camera body, and various front lens groups can be attached via a screw fitting. This model is an improvement over the earlier EXEE, offering through-the-lens metering and shutter-priority automatic exposure. Unlike its predecessor, the EX Auto automatically detects the maximum aperture of the attached front lens groups. Shutter speed is set on a dial near the release button, while aperture is controlled by a dial around the rewind crank, with settings from f/1.8 to f/16, as well as 'Auto' and 'Off' positions. The camera has a horizontal cloth focal plane shutter with speeds from 1/8 to 1/500 second plus 'B', and X-synchronization for flash at 1/60 second. It also includes Canon's QL (Quick Load) feature for simplified film loading.
