The Canon EOS 100 (Elan in America, EOS100 QD in Japan) is a 35mm autofocus SLR film camera that was released in August 1991. It is a mid-range 35mm autofocus SLR notable for introducing silent operation mechanisms in film advance and rewind, reducing noise to as little as one-eighth compared to earlier models. It uses the Canon EF lens mount system and features TTL phase-detection autofocus with both One-Shot AF and Predictive AI Servo AF, and a cross-type sensor for improved accuracy. The electronic shutter offers speeds from 30 seconds to 1/4000 second, alongside various auto and manual exposure modes including shutter-priority, aperture-priority, depth-of-field AE, and multiple program modes. The built-in flash automatically adjusts its coverage to match lens focal lengths (28mm, 50mm, and 80mm), and offers red-eye reduction, second-curtain sync, and flash exposure compensation. The camera provides advanced metering options with a 6-zone evaluative system and partial and center-weighted averaging, as well as a Quick Control Dial for real-time exposure adjustments while viewing through the viewfinder. Additional features include a 0.75x magnification pentaprism viewfinder, external LCD display for key settings, automatic film loading and rewind, support for multiple exposures and custom functions, all powered by a 6V lithium battery.
