The Canonet QL 17 GIII is the final, high-end version of Canon's Canonet compact rangefinder series. It features shutter-priority auto-exposure and parallax compensation with its 40mm f/1.7 lens. The camera is small and dense, with rounded corners and a black leatherette. It was available in brushed nickel or solid black. Film advance, exposure counter, shutter release, rewind crank, and the hot shoe are located on the top plate. It uses one 1.35V M20 mercury battery or a modern equivalent and has a hot shoe with a proprietary contact for Canolite D, as well as a PC socket. The camera weighs 620g.
